the frogger has a boo-boo in between two of his toes. sweet boy. we went to the pool yesterday, and he hollered something fierce when his feet hit the water at the end of the slide. so, we took a pool break today. it was NICE. i don't mind taking the kids, daily, as it is such a great big muscle exercise, but every once in a while, mommy gets a little tired of it. having a break today was really, really nice.
not to mention, i got a bunch of work done in the house. the tupperware bins that were overpopulating the formal dining room table are no longer. the hanging spider plant that has not been hanging in two weeks is now happily hanging in my craft room. the inbox on the kitchen counter that seemed to migrate over to the entire upper countertop is has been appropriately filed away. etc. etc. it feels so good to clean and see the fruits of labors! the house is coming together. good thing, too, as we have some visitors heading this way next week as well as the following week.
so, where do your kids go to school? how's that for a total change of subject?! ;) we're debating between two... both private schools with about the same curriculum. the public school here is good, relatively speaking, but not great compared to what we came from. additionally, at the public school, the entire year is geared towards training all the students to take and pass the state standardized tests. uh, dontcha think that, if the teachers are teaching what they should teach and the students are learning how they should learn, the tests should be incedental? just IMO, but what do i know?! anyway, we've nixed the public school off our list. now we're waiting to hear from one school - we're first on the waiting list for one. sometimes decisions like this make me feel like the weight of the world is on my shoulders even though that's totally irrational. i just always want to do what's best for our kids, both in the family unit as well as for them individually. at the end of the day, though, we always try our bestest, pray a lot and trust!!!!! trust.

a couple more Kenner Road layouts to share. for this first one - who says we can't use pink and flowers for boy layouts? ;) try it sometime!! something you wouldn't normally think would go...
this second layout, ok, is more "boy," and I'm loving how it turned out! frogger loves this umbrella... he carries it around whenever he can - meaning whenever his sisters actually let him play with it for any amount of time! :) some fun paint and stitching on here...

Our kids are bummed - too rainy and stormy today to pool it!

Sounds like you had quite the productive day yesterday! Our kids are in public school, but if we could afford it we would have them all in private school with smaller ratios and more hands-on learning experiences.

Good luck with the pursuit of finding the right school! I teach in a public school and can say that everyone works so hard to do what is right for kids! Some of the federal changes to education have made us have to focus on state testing--not what we want to be emphasizing either.
Love the layouts-so bright and fun!

Maybe your post will motivate me to get some stuff done today! Today is my day to do that!
Great layouts! I have two little boys and your pages inspired me to think a little differently about what I'm scrapping.
As far as schools go? Good luck. There are downsides to pretty much every option ou there. I'm a former public school teacher and I still work WITH public schools, an EXCELLENT public school by the way.
For my family though, we'll go the homeschool route for way too many reasons to list here and not because I have thing against public schools. This is just the right option for my family.
Good luck working through the issues!

My daughter goes to public school because it's one of the best districts in the state. We're fortunate, then again, we pay insane taxes to keep it that way.
I think a lot of public schools have to teach to the test thanks to the No Child Left Behind legislation. As always, everything comes down to politics and money.

What amazing layouts! My kids go to private school and we live in one of the best school districts in our state. It is just our preference. We love it! Good luck with your decision!

You can thank No Child Left Behind for public schools bending to the testing so severely. There is a LOT that goes into. Teachers are under intense pressure to have their classes pass state testing, because the goal is to make adequate yearly progress and not be considered a school "in trouble". Fortunately, I feel blessed to be in a school that has a healthy dose of "testing reality" and teaching what is required by the state every year. :) Good luck with that!
(BTW, where are you now? Guam? Missouri? Canada? LOL, I can never keep track! I don't know how you do it...)

We had the same dilemia here however we moved to a school district that has five elementary schools and an open enrollment policy that as along as you live in the city and if there is room at the better school then the kids can go.
