Pics....

Sink last night when i straggled upstairs wayyyyyy past my bedtime, i went through my usual routine of checking on the kids.  i was walking by their bathroom and heard water running.  granted, this isn't the first time that the kids have left the water on after getting a late-night drink or anything, but... here's what i found.  not only was the water on almost full-blast but there was also a cup over the drain!

thank goodness our overflow works like it should and could handle the flow rate!  i hadn't heard anyone get up and run to the bathroom, so it's entirely possible one of the girls left it on after brushing their teeth - FOUR HOURS EARLIER!  nice, huh?  what else to do than take a pic, go to bed and discuss it with them in the morning!  apparently, it was an "experiment" to see how full the sink would get overnight....

so we're almost back into our daily routine.  the girls are doing VBS again this week but at a different church.  this one is all about the USofA and the history of our country.  they've really had a great time thus far.  they even have floppy hats for them to wear & all the volunteers are dressed in colonial garb!  very fun.

Ar i'm going to attempt to redo the kids' bathroom in the next week or so (well, that's the plan, anyway).  i found this awesome little piece of art at etsy by anne dejong (be sure to check out her other art - it's so stinking cute!!!)  the bathroom is going to revolve around the colors & theme - the girls have been wanting a "sea life" bathroom for a while and anything is better than what they have now!!!

i'm attempting not to make the entire house a rainbow of colors that don't at least flow together, so the aqua blue in here is the same as the other bathroom i recently redid.  i'm thinking the kids' bathroom will be red and then i'm going to do Frogger's room in that darker blue.  we'll see how it all comes together.

anyway, the point to all this...  i was in target this morning while the girls were off playing.  i didn't think i'd find anything to go with the painting so easily; however, look what i found - a bunch of super fun sea-life goodies!!!  pretty stinking cute, huh???  they've also got a shower curtain that will work perfectly - it's mostly white, so i'm hoping it tones down the bright red a little bit.

Bathstuff
... ok, so when i'm on trips, i'm HORRIBLE at taking pictures.  not sure why that is considering i took over 100 yesterday outside with the kids.  anyway, here are two (well, ok i didn't take EITHER of these - maybe i didn't take any?!) i thought were fun.  the first is of me doing a make & take - uh, yeah!  that's ACTUALLY a paint brush i'm holding - i was shaking, not sure exactly what to do with it?!  ;)
Amypaint1

this second picture...  jayne was playing around with my camera and this is what i got when i uploaded the pics to my computer!  what the heck, woman?!  not that i don't like seeing you, but maybe even a blurry head shot would have been better than stinky feet?!  <3

Feets
and... last but not least, two of the greatest gals, Kerry Lynn & Jayne - you guys made it such a perfect weekend!  low stress, great company and sooo much fun!  need to do it more often!!!!  and, in case anyone was wondering, i AM amy martin!!!!!!  (*wink*)(*wink*)

I'm leavin' on a jet plane...

...i know when i'll be back again....

heading out to chicago this afternoon for CHA.  looking forward to seeing some old friends and making some new ones.  i've got enough stuff packed for about two weeks - why does that happen?  i have a bigger suitcase than usual, so i think there's that "need" to fill the space.  i did leave some room for any goodies i may pick up along the way - make & takes are always fun with new products!  my camera should also get a good workout! :)  it's always a great time to see what's new in the scrapbooking world.

we've been doing VBS all week at church.  it's been absolutely great.  i'm helping with the 4-6th graders - a nice dose of things to look forward to as my kids get older.  it's been a blessing to see the kids enjoying being not only with other children but also learning about Jesus!  what better place to spend time, both heart, body & mind?!

the curriculum is really fun - it's all about flowers, each flower symbolizing something in Jesus' life.  the lily ("God poured his love into Mary & pours his love into us"), the carnation ("Jesus is God incarnate"), the forget-me-not ("just like the eye in the f-m-n, God is always watching us"), the thorn bush (crown of thorns), the lily of the valley ("there was a small flower by the cross that was looking up at Jesus, but when He died, the flowers all cried and turned themselves facing down"), and today will be ... something special to symbolize the greatest event in Jesus' life, overcoming death so we, too, can have that victory.  pretty cool.  i'm taking my camera today so hopefully i'll get some good pics to share!

happy day.

Data

Gchartg do you keep growth charts for your kids (if you have kids?).  i have them in excel so all i have to do is enter the date and the info the dr has provided and the program automatically fills in the charts.  it's pretty nifty.  i just updated them so i have them so now i have not only the 0-36m but also the 2-20y.  the girls have long since moved on to the bigger charts, so i figured why not.  i grabbed the data from the CDC website and plugged and chugged... ok, well, excel plugged and chugged, but still...  they're pretty fun to use to keep track rather than the many, many copies that we get from the dr's.  if anyone wants me to share blank copies of these, let me know and i'll get up a link to download!

any fun plans today?  we're going to head over to the pool in a bit.  these kids need as much time outside as possible.  they really have spent so much time outside lately that i think they are just totally used to the energy burn.  that's what my goal is in my life lately - tire the kids out as much as possible?!  :)

Image1scrapso, i figured it was about time to run some backups... i don't do it nearly often enough, but i figure at least i do it a couple times a year.  i still don't have a decent EHD, so i'm still shopping around (= waiting for the price to come down and/or find a really great deal) on a Western Digital 1T desktop drive.  we'll see how that shopping goes.  in the mean time, i still burn dvds and make redundant backups on my extra WD Passport 160.  in the process, i make every attempt to clean up things that are either outdated or not fancy to me anymore....  i haven't started this cleanup yet; however, i should manage to get to it in the next day or two.  as i sit here, though, i wonder about excess.  do you think this many/much digi supplies is a bit excessive?!  will i realistically ever get to use all of this????  a girl can dream, right?!  i'd hate to get rid of any of these things, really, as they all have been very selectively chosen.  it's not like they really take up space, though.... my tiny EHD fits in my pocket so there's really no shelves full of "real" things.  funny how i can justify the hoarding.

have some templates new at TLP for froggy friday - they are really fun... . remember how i love open space in my own work?!  these made my head spin but they really are great. they're inspired by the lovely Kate Hadfield's work.

check them out! if you happen to want to pick them up, as a happy blog reader, feel free to use coupon lovelyblogt for an additional 15% the already discounted templates (for the weekend only).

Good weekend?

ours was just dandy.  we had a great time playing at the pool, at the playground(s) and in the yard.  now that the girls are 2-wheeling, that's pretty much all they want to do.  well, one of them, anyway!  frogger is darling - he toodles around on his trike like he's one of the gang!  he is one of the gang!  :)

Walle_lg DH took the girls to see Wall-E.  it was a lovely date for them all and the kids really loved it.  not only was it a treat (they've only been to the movies once and that was to see Veggie Tales Pirates Who Don't Do Anything & we're really picky about what they watch), but they all played $20 worth of video games after!  good times.  two little kids and one big kid AKA daddy.

speaking of movies, when the house was quiet on friday night, i treated myself to 27 Dresses.  i thought it was good.  of course, having James Marsden as eye candy doesn't hurt!  he's moved up into my top 5!  hehe.

any fun plans this week?  we're taking it easy because the following couple of weeks we have VBS and a few other camps.  that's about it.  i think i may attempt to start on the kids' bathroom remodel (ha).  we'll see.

I Love the Mountains!

Bear12 a fancy sight this afternoon....  i wasn't fast enough getting the camera out for the best shot without trees in the way, but this will give you an idea.  i was too concerned about making sure the garage was closed and the kids were inside with me!  i've been hearing from the neighbors that this bear has been roaming around and getting into open garages looking for food (we all keep our trash in the garage).  i hadn't seen the bear at all, so today was a cool experience - the girls loved it even though they were a hanging onto me even inside!  apparently, bears have a fairly skunky odor.. funny thing, i've never seen a skunk up here but have been smelling skunk stink wafting in my windows just about every night around 10p.  guess that's the bear making the rounds...

had a GREAT summer thunderstorm yesterday and hoping that what i'm hearing will roll through again today!  we don't get a lot of rain here, so it was a pleasant treat to be out in it a bit yesterday.  i asked a neighbor, "what IS this stuff?!"  lol.  on a message board yesterday, people were talking about the mountains, asking about the weather..  someone said, "just wait 5 min and it will change."  that's seriously the truth!!!

so... in other news...  have you picked up the Aug CK yet?  they've started to trickle in some HOF layouts - check p. 93!  posted a couple of other LOs, this one that was in Mar/Apr Memory Makers and just another fun one....  happy day.

You won't believe it?!

Abike i think that only way to share is to show...  this is just a little bit ago.  she's THREE!  i can't even say monkey see, monkey do because this little monkey hasn't seen the other one riding that much after the ditch crash.  this one, i just asked her...how about we take your wheels off so you can ride like a big girl?!  she looked at me and said, "ok momma!  let's do it!!!"  cutie pie.  so, there you have it.  just had to share.
